Mint Hill Events Cancelled through August
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the cancellation of Mint Hill Madness and Family Fun Nights through the end of August 2020, following the increased concerns about the COVID-19 and the unknown surrounding how the virus is spread. We are very disappointed, but know it is the right decision based on the information we have today.
We know this will come as an enormous disappointment to the Mint Hill community. This decision was not taken lightly and there were two key factors in the final decision.
First, the uncertainty caused by the number of people allowed at events. Mint Hill Madness sees 20,000 people over the course of the weekend. Currently in Phase 2, only 25 people can gather outside. It is unclear when mass gatherings will be allowed.
Second, we need to prioritize the health of our sponsors, vendors, and visitors. With the number of participants, physical distancing would be difficult to enforce. In addition, it would be impossible to sanitize continuously, the number of surfaces people touch.
We want to thank everyone who had already committed to participate. We want to give a special shout out to all our sponsors, including Novant Health, Mint Hill Medical Center who was returning as the Mint Hill Madness Title Sponsor, Waste Pro who was sponsoring the Food Tent and Edifice Construction who was sponsoring the Family Fun Nights. The support we have received over the years has helped us shape the events we host in our town. They are all rooted in our community and need to be recognized for their devotion to Mint Hill Events, Inc.
We will continue to watch how safe re-openings take place over the course of the summer and be ready for safe, family friendly events in the fall.
