09.22.2020 Message from Mayor Brad Simmons
Mint Hill Residents,
Mint Hill Residents,
We currently have just over a week to complete the 2020 Census. Completing the census is quick and easy to do. You can complete your questionnaire online, by phone or on paper. You can complete the questionnaire, spending less than 10 minutes on what can impact your community in the next 10 years. The distribution of more than $675 billion in federal funds, grants and support to state, counties and communities is based on the census data. We have until September 30 to be counted. . If you have questions, visit my2020census.gov or call the Census Bureau at (884) 330-2020.
If you are a small business who needs support during these difficult times, Mecklenburg County has been awarded funding as a grantee of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act funding. The County is providing up to $1.25 Million to fill identified capital access challenges faced by small businesses. This funding will provide financial support to sustain small businesses as they strive to remain open as COVID-19 continues to negatively impact the local economy. Funding will be available until November 27, 2020 or until all funds have been disbursed to approved applicants. See if your small business is eligible to receive funding from the MeckCares Stabilization Relief Grant.
Lastly, registration for the 3rd Annual Mint Hill Scarecrow Decorating Contest has closed. We will have over 50 scarecrows around town at businesses and residences. A list with scarecrow locations and a link for voting will be posted next week. COVID is not going to stop our ability to have fun. In addition, there is an opportunity for you to win $125 in the Mint Hill Scavenger Hunt. Look for clues at local businesses and on our social media throughout the month of October. Put all the clues together and tell us what we are describing. Submit your answer to firstname.lastname@example.org. All correct answers will be put into a random drawing.
Stay healthy and be counted.
Mint Hill Mayor
