06.25.2020 Message from Mayor Brad Simmons
Mint Hill Residents,
2020 has been a challenging year on many levels. The COVID-19 is changing life as we know it daily. It is great to see more businesses opening and residents supporting them. Now is when they need us the most. Shop local, eat local, support Mint Hill.
Effective 5:00 pm, Friday, June 26, 2020 the governor has issued an executive order which requires face coverings when in public places, indoors and outdoors, and when physical distancing of 6 feet from others is not possible. North Carolina defines a face covering as a covering of the nose and mouth that is secured to the head with ties, straps or loops over the ears or is simply wrapped around the lower face.
As with any rule, there are exceptions. People with medical conditions, children under 11, and people who are walking or otherwise exercising outside when not within six feet of others.
Our law enforcement personnel cannot criminally enforce the face covering requirements of this Order. However, if a business does not allow entry to someone because that person refuses to wear a face covering, and if that someone enters the premises or refuses to leave the premises, law enforcement personnel may enforce the trespassing laws.
We strongly encourage our citizens to wear face coverings and maintain social distance. Wearing a mask may save your life or the lives of your loved ones. Wear a mask, social distance, and wash your hands.
Stay safe, stay well, wear a mask.
Mint Hill Mayor
