Mint Hill Founders Park Opens to the Public

On December 18, 2023 the Town of Mint Hill opened its third community park.  Mint Hill Founders Park is located at 9801 Brief Road across from the Mint Hill Athletic Association.  Named for the many families that have contributed to the Town’s founding and still have descendants that live, work and contribute to the betterment of the Town. The name was submitted by Mint Hill resident, Ann Cochrane.

Mint Hill Founders Park is a 28-acre property purchased in 2014 with a 50% grant from the State of North Carolina Parks and Recreation Fund (PARTF).  Construction costs were approximately $750,000 paid with ARPA funds.

The playground provided by Churchich Recreation and features separate toddler and big kid areas, inclusive features for kids with special needs, and is the largest of its kind in Mecklenburg County.

In addition, the park features a 1.3-acre dog park features separate areas for small and large breeds and a shaded seating area and over a mile of family hiking trails.  The playground and dog park are lit for use after sunset.

The contractor is Carolina Cajun Concrete, a local Mint Hill business.  The owner Eby Ghafarian donated materials and labor to build the Ghafarian Family Picnic Area next to the playground. A plaque commemorates his contribution.

Boy Scout Sean Owen built the picnic tables and benches for the dog park as part of his Eagle Scout project.

The playground and dog park are open daily from 7:00 am – 10:00 pm.  The trails are open during daylight hours only.
