NC 52 Roundabout Project to be Extended

CHARLOTTE – A $1.8 million project to build a roundabout at the intersection of N.C. 51 and Idlewild Road will continue past the projected August 18 completion date, due to utility delays.

Utility owner Windstream was to complete relocating its utilities by June 27, one week after the road closed. They remained in place for several weeks, affecting the contractor's ability to work on one corner of the project. As of August 1, the situation was resolved, but the delays have extended the project's completion.

The N.C. Department of Transportation and contractor Blythe Construction will do everything possible to get the roundabout open to traffic by the time school starts August 28.
