After many months of work, the Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) is ready for your review and comments. The Town began working on the UDO in 2007 with the specific tasks of reorganizing our current zoning and subdivision regulations and adding conditional zoning to replace our 2-Step Parallel Conditional Use Districts. A number of items, including Sign Regulations, were purposely not addressed in phase 1 of the UDO Project and will be part of a phase 2 project.
As we progressed through the UDO project, the document became much more streamlined, easier to follow and user friendly. Additionally, the UDO now captures the administrative and procedural steps that actually exist between the Town, LUESA and NCDOT.
For review purposes, each of the ten (10) Articles has two versions. The Tracked version shows the existing, new and modified content as indicated in the color legend at the bottom of each page for those who want to know the source of the material. The Clean version is drafted as it would be adopted.
